‘Lost Victory’ is an unabashed military book. It, however, covers a subject which
is of great interest not just for military professionals the world over, but,
increasingly, also the lay reader, the common citizen across gender, intellectuals
across diverse disciplines, and the media, who, in these trying times, are trying to
interpret terrorism as one of their key concerns. This transition from the normal
span of interest of citizens has taken place in recent years because terror is now a
global malady and has become the common man’s concern as much as it is the
concern of think tanks, members of the Fourth Estate, other professionals and
for academics, in fact, just about everyone.
The key aim is not so much to ‘carry coal to Newcastle’ for those whose
primary job it is to fight, study or research terror. There is little by way of content
in these pages not already known to these experts and luminaries. There is,
however, lots of information here for the lay reader, the citizen who needs to bone
up on terror and its myriad dynamics.
